Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Kids on Weekends.

What is Kids on Weekends?

Kids on Weekends is a day-planning app for Singapore parents with young kids. It helps you discover kid-friendly places, build a complete day plan, and share recommendations with other parents — all in under 2 minutes.

How is this different from Google or Little Day Out?

Google gives you everything; we give you the right things. Little Day Out is an editorial site with no planning tools. Kids on Weekends is the only app that connects discovery to day-level planning — you find a place and add it to Saturday's itinerary in a single tap. Every listing is researched by real parents — and tested first-hand wherever we can — not sourced from aggregated reviews or sponsored content.

What devices does the app support?

Kids on Weekends is currently available on Android. We launched Android-first because it's the dominant platform among Singapore parents. An iOS version is on the roadmap and will be announced to our mailing list first.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. The app is free — there's no subscription, no paid tier, and we don't ask for payment details. We looked hard at charging a monthly fee and decided against it: the app is more useful to us as something every Singapore parent can just install.

So how do you make money?

Through affiliate links on this website. When a guide links to a bookable venue and you book through that link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That's it — no ads in the app, no selling your data, and no paid placements. Venues can't buy their way into a guide or into the app.

Will it start costing money later?

We may add paid features at some point, but we'd say so clearly in advance, and anything that's free today won't quietly start charging. There's no subscription to cancel in the meantime.

How do you choose which places are listed?

Every place in Kids on Weekends is researched in depth — and wherever we can, personally visited by our founding team with our own kids. We don't accept sponsored listings, and no venue pays us to be included or written about favourably. Where a guide links to a booking platform we may earn a commission on what you book, but that never decides what goes in. Our curation criteria: Is it genuinely enjoyable for young children? Is the price honest? Would we go back? If the answer to all three is yes, it goes in.

Can I suggest a place?

Absolutely — that's exactly how we want to grow the database. Use the in-app suggestion form, or send us a message. If we visit and love it, we'll add it — tell us if you'd like credit and we'll name you in the write-up.

Is my data safe?

Yes. We are compliant with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). We don't sell your data, we don't collect location data in the background, and you can request deletion of your account and data at any time. Full details in our privacy policy.

How do I get early access?

Sign up via our early access form — that is the only way in while we are in closed beta. On iPhone, the welcome email carries a TestFlight link you can use straight away. On Android, we add you to the closed test by hand and email you an invite when a slot opens. Beta testers get full access to everything, and get told first when new features land.
